When Eleven Wireless Chief Executive Officer Josh Friedman learned that Portland had been ranked the top "unwired city" by chipmaker Intel, it was music to his ears. His fledging company, which deployed Wi-Fi--or wireless broadband networks--at a half-dozen hotels around Portland, had played a role in installing enough wireless access points to get the city noticed.
